In Western psychotherapy practices, "Mindfulness" has become synonymous with the word "meditation." Meditation plays an important role in learning to be mindful, but not all meditation is mindfulness, nor is all mindfulness meditation.
Mindfulness is an ancient concept with growing modern interest. While meditation trains mindfulness, mindfulness itself refers to an orientation of awareness. In therapy, mindfulness is learning to live fully engaged in the present, with intention, and without judgment. This attribute is cultivated and strengthened through meditation practices that are taught in session and practiced at home.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is an approach to learning and using mindfulness to reduce and manage the symptoms of mental health conditions. Specifically created to help people with recurrent depression, MBCT has proven to be helpful in treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and even ADHD. My work with mindfulness is grounded in MBCT, but also draws from other modern approaches to mindfulness as well as personal study of ancient mindfulness.
I believe that anyone can benefit from learning to be more mindful, in the same way all people benefit from eating a healthy diet. Becoming mindful helps reduce symptoms of mental health suffering, and increases our ability to appreciate and enjoy life, moment to moment.

Relief for Today, Resilience for Tomorrow
Many people begin therapy needing immediate tools to manage distressing symptoms like anxiety, panic attacks, or overwhelming stress. At the same time, they want to build a foundation for long-term mental wellness so these issues don't define their future. An integrated therapy model is specifically designed to do both. I combine effective, evidence-based psychotherapy techniques for symptom relief with the core practices of mindfulness to create lasting, positive change.
An integrated approach provides:
Symptom Relief: I'll start by providing you with practical strategies and coping skills to manage your most urgent concerns, helping you regain a sense of control and calm.
A Foundation for Resilience: Throughout the process, you'll also be learning mindfulness. This powerful practice helps you change your relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings, reducing their power and preventing future spirals.
A Whole-Person Focus: This method addresses your entire experience: your immediate pain and your potential for growth. Integrated care treats you as a whole person, not just a diagnosis, leading to more profound and sustainable healing.
Therapy That's Tailored to You: I draw from various effective therapeutic modalities and blend them with mindfulness in a way that is customized to support your unique needs, history, and goals.
